The introduction of Side Kits was geared primarily to metal coil haulers, and general cargo reducing manual tarping and enabling shippers to load more trailers per shift at the mills. Type of Side Kit Panels will determine what cargo you're looking to haul and LCS has several recommendations.
For Rugged Side Kit Usage where interior of trailer is loaded with a forklift at dock level or where freight could lay up again panels causing damage.
• Most economical is G1S, Good 1 Side1/2" plywood. Do it yourself from the local lumber yard, prime & paint both sides.
• General Purpose H.D. 1/2" plywood with .035 Pebble Glass 1 Side with aluminum protective guards top & bottom.
• Optional special order H.D. 1/2" plywood with .035 Pebble Glass 2 Sides with aluminum protective guards top & bottom.
For Lighter Side Kit Usage where steel coils or freight never touches the side panels making these panels more popular.
• Fluted core-plast 1/2"with aluminum protective guards, 4 sides. Panel weighs 12 lbs
• Fluted core-plast 1/2" with .035 Pebble Glass 1 Side with aluminum protective guards 4 sides.
• Fluted core-plast 1/2" with .035 Pebble Glass 2 Sides with aluminum protective guards 4 sides.
Customized to the customers requirements
At LCS we wrote the book on versatility long before we introduced the 1st rolling tarp system to Canada. High loads, for general freight was an everyday requirement and LCS provided flatbed carriers with the creative design and ability to load freight in one direction and lumber / drywall on an open flatbed in the other direction.
This High Hauler System is 90" post and plywood panel with a 12" peaked arch cross bow. Two side lift-out panels each side of trailer enabled the driver to lift 6" and remove a panel easily gaining quick side access to load.
LCS recommends for general haulers a versatile Side Kit to be used as a knock down kit stored in the Bulkhead when not in use.
Options:
2) 7ft high system with 6ft plywood panels 6ft, & a tarp drop of 24"
3) 6ft high system with 6ft, 5ft or 4ft panels and a drop that compensates the gap +12" additional drop for weather protection.
Because LCS dominated the side kit market in Canada this customer's requirments was to design a new post (Wide Side) that would be 3X stronger then a standard post and would provide 99" inside width vs the typical 95-1/2". Obviously the trailer had to be designed slightly different at the side rail to provide this new width dimension on a 102" wide trailer. The key to the LCS patent is the T section is encapsulated within the overall profile allowing the overall post to measure 1-1/2".
